Have Fun!
Easter Bunny in a pot.
Easter will be here soon, so have some creative fun at home and make these little eater bunny pots. You can use them for decoration for the table or just to give to your friends and family with some easter eggs.
I have some links below to help source the supplies and a few pictures of how I created my easter bunny when I wasn’t able to get the poms poms.
Supplies

First of all, let me say that it is a lot easier if you have some large and small Pom Poms to use for your rabbit body and tail
Secondly, I tried to add some bunny ears, but there is not enough room for them in the pot. My bunny is a long haired bunny because I had to use some fur fabric instead of the Pom Poms. Below are some pictures of this project with Pom Poms.

When you have created your Easter Bunny Pots. Post them on Instagram and tag us @AHSbrisbanelibrary https://www.instagram.com/ahsbrisbanelibrary. We add them to our stories. Look forward to seeing your creations.
Back by popular demand! The Bookchelor is a reading promotion that the Potter Library hosts each year to encourage students to borrow as many books as they would like over the summer break. Based on the Bachelor T.V. series, the girls have a time limit to date a book. They can then choose a book to borrow and move on to another table with a different genre. This year we have a heart display in the foyer of the library. Students are asked to write their favourite book title and the author on a small heart and pin it to the display. This activity is always fun filled and engaging for the students.

In week 5 of term 4, students have been participating in a Rocket League eSports tournament on the Nintendo Switch. In teams of two, competitive and determined, students returned across the week eager to continue challenges against rival teams. Students were encouraged to use strategic decision making and were seen adapting to each new team’s playstyle. Many stayed on as spectators after their own matches to encourage and cheer on their teammates. Like traditional sports, eSports can teach team building, leadership, and communication skills. In addition, it also fosters student engagement and interest in STEM subjects. We finished the week with four teams making the finals and two of these playing a grand final much to everyone’s excitement.

ESports are increasingly being recognised as a professional and legitimate sporting endeavour and schools are embracing its benefits. As universities begin to offer eSporting scholarships, eSports are opening new learning opportunities and pathways into tertiary education. Most notable is the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) as the first Australian university to offer eSports scholarships as part of their elite athletes’ program.
Below are the students who made it into the finals, and the group of four are the girls who played in the grand-final. Congratulations girls!

It’s one thing to fly a drone, but to actually build a city, host a natural disaster and write the code for a rescue mission is an experience like no other. So, it’s fair to say Year 6 students were flying high after doing just that during a six-week taster unit on drone technology.
Using mathematics, the students designed a city that was placed on a grid like system. They measured distances and height in and around this space to use when programming the heights and distances the drone could fly. The girls then set about creating a city, using recycled materials, designing, making and collaborating, to build a mini city. The girls then began a series of lessons that looked at the role drones have in real life disasters. They gathered information about natural disasters and discussed how they could use their city and drone to assist in a natural disaster. The girls then proceeded to use thinking and design processes to plan, program and test the necessary code for their drone’s expedition.
Overall the girls enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the unit of work.
