We are still working on the Armour cuffs with some students finished and some just starting… It is almost time for the Cre8 Lab to close for restocking and preparation for next term. How this term has flown by.
So it has been an exciting week with the students starting their Armour cuffs and Shoulder Armour.
It doesn’t look much like Armour at the moment, but if you watch this space you will see the creations coming to life over the next couple of weeks. This is a very big project for most of the girls, some of whom have had a bit of experience tinkering at home.
Check out the beginning sketches and cut outs below.
It has been a while since my last post, the Cre8 Lab has been very busy and the students are excited to start their Cosplay Armour cuff and shoulder Armour. There has been a few finishing off their Sugar Skull Felties and we now have finished products to display.
All in all it was a great workshop and we had plenty of happy customers.
Another group of students have started on their Sugar Skulls this week, with a few still to finish from last week. The embroidery is proving to challenging. But the students are determined to create something beautiful.
We are well on our way with the Sugar Skulls, the students had fun choosing colours and decorations for their skulls. The hardest part was choosing which flower to use for the eye and which heart for the nose, so this took a bit of time.
All went well with the sewing of the electric circuit with conductive thread, and all the projects lit up when the battery was inserted into the battery breakout board with switch.
The more challenging part of the process is embroidering the face, and blanket stitching the three layers together. The students are doing very well, and some are trying different embroidery stitches to decorate the face.
Just a couple of students completing their E.L Wire projects, and then it is on the the Sugar Skull LED pins next week. Everyone enjoyed the workshops and are very keen to do more with the Cre8 Lab.
Check out the latest photos.

Another group of enthusiastic students have started their E.L wire projects, they are making perfect progress and will be completed tomorrow afternoon.
The pots have definitely been the most popular.
Our first workshop for Term 3 is Electroluminescent wire decorations, or E.L Wire. Electroluminescent wire is a thin copper wire coated in a phosphor which glows when an alternating current is applied to it. It can be used in a wide variety of applications.
The students had a choice of Pots or Canvas. I am happy to say that a few have taken the project to another level, adding paint to the canvas and glitter to the pots.
Here are some of the projects in construction and the end result of the first students to finish.
Some finished works
Recently, All Hallows’ School was asked to exhibit at the Brisbane Maker Festival which was held at The Edge SLQ.
We set up a display of creations which the students of All Hallows’ School had made during the workshops that have been running over the past 12 months. We were lucky enough to have a couple of students come along and help with the exhibit. it was a very enjoyable day.
Below are some pictures of our Display

The workshop has been finished now for a couple of weeks, and I am now able to post the finished creations. I think they are all fantastic, great work girls
We have a few finished Chain Maille Gauntlets, and a couple of happy students.
Many students have now started on their 3D Chain Maille designs, some who started last week are almost finished their designs.
Using the online program Tinkercad, the students are learning how to navigate around the platform, and are getting used to viewing their designs in 3 dimensions. Combining simple shapes and added holes for jump rings, the designs are printed on our Makerbot printer and then enhanced to look like metal using metalic paints. The last stage of the design is to link the shapes together to form a chain maille gauntlet that can be worn on the hand or around the neck. Check out the process pics
All the students have now completed their wire wrapping projects. Every one of them is a little bit different. The girls liked this activity and some have actually completed two wrapping projects. Good work!
The students are already 3 days into the wire wrapping, which is proving a bit challenging. Here are a few pics of the begining of their designs. Well done girls, I am looking forward to seeing the finished designs.
Finished peices.
