Makerspace is a fun collaborative space. A place to make new friends, try new equipment, a place be creative and curious. Students can come to Makerspace before school and at lunchtime. Each week we have an activity where you can learn, or do your own creating and making.

Weeks 1 & 2 – Macrame Key Chain
Makerspace started term 4 strong with macrame! Using colourful threads and beads, students experimented with methods, colours and styles to craft beautifully knotted accessories. The makerspace was filled with collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity!

Week 3 – Animate Your Sketches
During week 3 in Makerspace, students harnessed both their creative and technical skills to create some cute animations. They first created and drew their original character designs, then photographed and uploaded them to an animation website, and with a few clicks, were able to see their creations dance around the screen!

Week 4 – Forest Mushrooms
As part of our ecojustice week, students in the Makerspace created miniature forest scenes using all recycled materials.
We used old lids for the bases, rolled cardboard for the stems, and empty egg cartons for the mushroom caps. The students all added their own unique flourishes to their creations, using many different colours and patterns, and even some actual twigs and leaves from the garden!

Week 5 – Spooky Stories, Halloween Bags, and Pom Pom Monsters
Spoooooky season! To celebrate Halloween, students in the Makerspace made spooky crafts including spiders, ghosts, and bags for trick-or-treating.

Makerspace always has a puzzle going, so students can take a much needed break. This puzzle was out of this world! Staff and students got a view of our world from above as they pieced together this puzzle.

Week 6 & 7 – Tic Tac Toe Game
Weeks 6 and 7 saw tic tac toe take over the Makerspace! Students made their very own portable tic tac toe games using their painting, drawing and sewing skills. These were perfect for easy Christmas gifts!

Week 8 & 9 – Christmas Cards and Craft
As the end of the year approached, students made Christmas cards and crafts for themselves and their loved ones. They carefully used stencils and push pins to transfer their desired design to a piece of card, then used colourful yarn and a blunt needle to bring the image to life! Other students created cute snowmen ornaments out of beads and twine.

Christmas Village
To decorate the library with some Christmas cheer, students constructed a beautiful Christmas village out of paper and card.

Lego
Our Lego tables are always really popular in the library, and this year we have seen some wonderful creations!
